In May this year, Nurrdalinji members, directors and Cultural Leaders from across the Beetaloo, Barkly and McArthur regions, attended a Defence of Country Gathering in Darwin to talk about the different ways we can contribute to the fight for our right to speak for all matters that affect our country.

We spent time on best ways to speak with and lobby politicians, and met Ministers and MP’s to voice our concerns about what is happening on our Country.

We also talked about how to speak with the media to make sure our messages are strong and clear.

We met with the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority (AAPA) who gave us information on how to protect our Sacred Sites and what the Authority Certificates are for. We also met with the Northern Territory Government and the Department conducting the Strategic Regional Environment and Baseline Assessment (SREBA).

We also invited the TED (PBC) Board & Northern Land Council Executive to come and talk to us, and again, they didn’t even acknowledge our invitation or reply to us. We will continue to invite them to meet with Nurrdalinji until they do so.
